Wednesday night saw the second deadline for takeover offers come and go with reports that both Sir Jim Ratcliffe and Sheikh Jassim bin Hamad al-Thani had tabled bids.However, it later emerged that neither party had met the 9pm deadline, with the Raine Group, who are handling the possible sale of the club for the Glazer family, understood to have granted both parties an extension to make their offers later in the week, potentially today.Sheikh Jassim’s Qatari delegates met United officials last Thursday, before Ratcliffe did the same a day later. It is widely reported that the Glazers want £6billion to sell United.The next stage of the prospective takeover process should see the Raine Group select a preferred bidder – should there be one – who will then be given exclusive access to confidential financial documents.Elsewhere, a number of United players will be in action for their country today as Portugal host Serbia while England face Italy.
